Tasteless comic. I didn’t even sign it usual-like. Have had schedule upturned of late so this comic is tardy. Also kinda shitty. Cheap gag. Missed grey inside second ‘O’ in woosh. I mean wooshh. Need to get better at budgeting what little time I have so I have more spare to draw comics. Need to write in complete sentences. Need to learn a full windsor without resorting to Youtube videos.

Not that this comic is implying for one moment that marriage is a prerequisite for happiness. That is just silly.

This comic might be a little terrible (I haven’t decided yet) but it is much better than the other one I wrote, so be thankful for that. It is slightly topical so at least it is breaking new ground for Moonbeard being of course vaguely related to the passing of a particular bill allowing same-sex couples to marry in New Zealand. Marriage equality. Go us for being the thirteenth in the world to do something.

It was initially going to make fun of psychics but the comic ended up very different. That’s kinda my process. Fluid-like. Like some sort of liquid, some sort of transparent drinkable liquid. Refreshing and whatnot. Minerals.

This comic has been sitting on or around my scanner for a while now, really wasn’t sure if I liked it enough. I guess I do. I’ve posted comics I hate much more than this one. Was going to put it on the site yesterday but then I didn’t because APRIL FOOLS. I got you so good. Although for me yesterday was the second so perhaps I am the fool who is April.

Anyway I think Youtube won April Fools this year. Based on dedication alone. If you didn’t see it you should look it up, it was pretty impressive. Those presenters deserve trophies.

Hooray for cursors. This comic is about cursors. Apologies for shoddy cursors and gif. This comic had an extra two panels full of swears that didn’t make the cut. Not due to self-censorship,  it just wasn’t that necessary to preface this comic with two panels of a drunk man swearing at a cursor. The alternate version will be in the bonus features in the dvd box set. Apologies for poorly implemented cursor graphics. May fix in future (won’t happen).

Hey so who’s having a Marmite party right now? I missed it so bad. Necessary context for the 95% of people reading this who aren’t from NZ: Marmite is a popular yeast spread that hasn’t been on the shelves for over a year following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Right now this country seems to be torn between those overwhelmed with joy our national dish is back on the shelves, those complaining about it not tasting how they remember, and those watching with bemusement over how excited everybody seems to be about a yeast spread. I am in the first category. JOY

This started off as a sort of St Patrick’s Day comic. I don’t know what it is any more. It has a leprechaun in it, because I am a very clever man. So clever, thinking of using a leprechaun for a St. Patrick’s day comic. Nobody would think of that. I think this is probably everything a comic shouldn’t be: the second panel is overly verbose, there isn’t a punchline, the visual style is inconsistent. That’s just how I roll I guess. I don’t think I actually like this one, so I’ll try do another for the week. I probably should have gone with the SKULL POPE comic I was going to write, about a new pope who is a skull. Maybe not.

So many questions with this one. Why is he the new guy? New to where, to this comic? But he was in the last one. Who is to the left of the frame?  What was he meant to do with the envelope? Does it all matter? Probably, I don’t know.

Incidentally, I was digging into old Google Analytics today for kicks and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the 5th largest keyword search people use to get to Moonbeard is “I have no idea what I’m doing”,  and the 11th is “I have no idea what im doing”. This  is now my new catch phrase. I’ll crack it out when I screw up. The audience will chuckle slightly but we’ll overdub it in post with some raucous canned laughter. Inside I’ll be thinking “Christ Joey, I just completely ruined your audition” but I’ll go with it because the whole situation really needed closure. Uh. What were we talking about?

Hey would you all prefer it if I had a regular update schedule? Rather than this haphazard “I update weeklyish, but I’m not telling you what day” thing I currently have going on? I will interpret any silence as complete approval of my current approach to updates
